Last Saturday in rather misty and cold conditions the golfers played stroke for the monthly medal. The ladies winner was Gail Leigh (10) with nett 79 followed by Heather Jenkins (21) with nett 81. David Douthwaite (21) with nett 75 won the men’s medal on a countback from Richy Clark ( 14) . Marysville Golf Report 30 May
Last Thursday 15 players played a stroke round on the back nine holes. The winner was Keith Atwell (11) with nett 30 and Lloyd Flaherty (13) was the runner up with nett 34. Dave Robins (11) won the putting competition with just 11 putts and was nearest the pin on the 18th hole. The Thursday nine-hole competition is held every week and all locals and visitors are welcome and encouraged to play in the friendly competition. Last Sunday the final of the Dalhousie Men’s Pennant Division 2 Handicap section was played at Eildon. Marysville played Alexandra and Marysville won 4-1. Congratulations to the Marysville team for winning the final after some close matches throughout the season. Marysville Golf Report 7 May
Having played in the Lancefield Tournament on Thursday 30 April the ladies pennant team returned there just 4 days later to play against the Romsey/Macedon team in the 4th round of the Dalhousie season. The Romsey/Macedon team won 3-2 and are now on top of the ladder. Monday 11 May was a BYE for the Marysville team with the other teams gathering at Mandalay Golf Club for the 5 and final round. Marysville Golf Report 2nd April
The Dalhousie Pennant season is well under way with the men’s finals played last Sunday at Lancefield. In the Div 2 Handicap final Marysville played Alexandra but unfortunately due to heavy rain the match was abandoned after 4 holes. On Saturday 4 th April a very successful Junior Invitational Day was held at the club with the young players playing a two-person ambrose alongside a Marysville member who guided them through the rules and the course. Last Thursday, the annual Sandy Wilson Ladies Bowl was held with Marysville members hosting 45 ladies from clubs from the Dalhousie District and further afield. Last Saturday the golfers played a stableford round and all competition fees, raffle money and donations will be donated to the Marysville Lions Need For Feed programme and the Murrindindi Foundation’s Food Share initiative. Members thank all those visitors and green fee players who also contributed to the charity day. Marysville Golf Report-9th March
Last Saturday morning, a full car park, the smell of egg and bacon rolls, and some unfamiliar faces were the order of the day at the Marysville Golf Club. The members welcomed players from Lakeside Golf Club, who each year vacate their club for the Formula 1 Grand Prix and travel to Marysville for the interclub challenge. Last week was a busy one for all the Yea members as they prepared to host 91 golfers on Saturday in the final round of the 2005/6 Foodworks Murrindindi Masters. Last Saturday the Marysville golfers, having played at Eildon the week before and preparing to play at Yea next week, enjoyed a day on their own course . Last Saturda,y another very successful round of the Foodworks Murrindindi Masters was held at Eildon. A field of 97 players attended which included 13 men and 10 ladies representing Marysville. On Saturday 7 th February all those affected by the 2009 Black Saturday fires were remembered. The Marysville golfers played the annual 4 BBB stableford game in memory of James and Matthew Liesfield, their Mother Elizabeth and all those who lost their lives that day. Today’s December Monthly Medal brought dogged competition across the small but hardy players in both the men’s and women’s fields, that endured dramatic and unforgiving weather that swept through the course.
