The results of the Thursday nine hole competition were given to this scribe as ‘ here is the report for the crazy golfers who showed up on Thursday’! Indeed, the wet and cold conditions on Thursday only attracted ‘crazy golfers’! Those who did brave the elements played stroke on the back nine holes and the winner was Richy Clark (8) with nett 38 on a countback from Brian Worcester (10). Brian was nearest the pin on the 11th hole and Richy was closest on the 18th. Keith Atwell (10) won the putting with an excellent 13 putts.
Conditions on Saturday were slightly better and the golfers played stableford. The men’s game included the third round of the Barton Cup. Good scores were hard to come by in the wet conditions underfoot and from above but players soldiered on to complete their rounds. The ladies winner was Gail Leigh ( 11) with 25 points followed by Margaret Blair (35) with 23 points. Glen Rattay (11) won the men’s competition with 33 points on a countback from Keith Atwell (18). The nearest the pins were won by Keith Atwell, Glen Rattay and Ming Kuan who also won the Golden Shot. The finalists for the Barton Cup on Saturday 12 September are Ming Kuan, Alan Howard, Glen Rattay, Paul Martin, Peter Lilley, Drew Kampkes, Adam Littlejohn, Ray Jones, Richy Clark and Brian Worcester.
Next Saturday all golfers will play stroke for the first round of the Winter Aggregate.
The Thursday Ladies Dalhousie event at Kilmore was cancelled due to the wet weather and is rescheduled for the 24 September. The Dalhousie ladies events are now in recess until the Avenel Tournament on the 10 September.
Also we have attached the flyer for the Ladies 2 Person Ambrose on the 1st of October for those who are interested
