Last week, the Thursday nine-holers played Stableford on the back nine holes, and the winner was Gail Leigh with 18 points, followed by Lloyd Flaherty with 16 points on a countback from Geoff Ferguson. The nearest the pins were won by Mark Alexander on the 11th and Glen Rattay on the 18th.Â
The Saturday golfers arrived to a frosty course which the sun soon melted, and conditions were perfect for the 18 holes played. Gail Leigh is hard to beat at the moment, and she won the ladies section with 31 Stableford points on a countback from Lesley Rundle. The men’s winner was another very consistent player, Richy Clark, who finished with 32 points, followed by Keith Atwell with 27 points. Two of the four nearest the pins were not achieved, but Paul Martin was closest on the 18th, and Richy Clark continued to claim his usual 9th hole and also won the Golden Shot. Next Saturday, all golfers will play a stableford round.
Whilst this is a quiet time at the club with no upcoming events, there are some returning in the warmer months. The Dalhousie Veterans Presidents Cup will be held on Thursday 16th August with a 9.00 am arrival for a 9.30 shotgun start. On Saturday 12th September the Club AGM will be held in the clubrooms from 8.45 am. Members are encouraged to attend this meeting and nominations for Committee membership are now open. The daily competition will start after the AGM and, as per the syllabus, the men will be playing the final of the Barton Cup and the Captain's trophies will be presented. Also, on that busy day, the Future Golf event will be played on the Marysville course.Â
