Marysville Golf Report 5 September

Last Thursday the nine holers played stroke on the front nine holes and the winner was Lloyd Flaherty (9) with nett 37. Heather Jenkins (10) was a close runner up with nett 38. Lloyd won the nearest the pin on the 4^th hole and Mark Alexander won on the 9^th hole.

The Saturday weather forecast for Marysville was for ‘25 mm of rain and strong winds’ which obviously put the fair- weather golfers off playing, but the small field in fact enjoyed 18 holes in reasonable weather with no rain and just a moderate wind. The golfers played a stroke round for the September monthly medal. The ladies medal winner was Sabrina Stow (25) with nett 74 on a countback from Gail Leigh (12). Peter Lilley (16) won the men’s medal with nett 73 from Keith Atwell (15) with nett 76. Just 2 of the 4 nearest the pins were won with Travers Stow winning on the 9^th and Richy Clark on the 11^th. Richy also won the Golden Shot. Peter Lilley won the putting.

Members are reminded that the club AGM will be held next Saturday 12^th September at 8.45 in the dining room and are encouraged to attend this important meeting. The club raffle will be drawn at the AGM and all raffle tickets must be returned to Steve Coker before the meeting.  After the AGM the men will play a stroke round for the final of the Barton Cup and the ladies will play a stableford game. The Captains Trophies will be presented after play to the daily winners. Qualifiers for the final of the ladies Barton Shield on Saturday 19^th September are Sabrina Stow, Gail Leigh, Lesley Rundle, Heather Jenkins, Beverley Bellman, and Fiona Wright.

The Goulburn Valley Water Standpipe Cup is being held at Mansfield G C on Saturday 3^rd October. It is an Ambrose game and 2 teams of 4 from Marysville will be playing in the event. Those members who are not travelling to Mansfield will play a stableford round at Marysville.

Due to the Standpipe Cup the dates for the Marysville Men’s Championships are 10, 17 and 24 October and for the ladies the dates are 26^th September, 10^th, 17th and 24^th October. (best of 3 rounds).

The mystery of the flippers found in the bin on the 16th tee as mentioned last week has unfortunately not been solved!!
