Marysville Golf Report 21 August

Despite the steady winter rain, some fog and sometimes frost the course has remained open throughout the winter months. This is due to the hard work and commitment of the course volunteers who have carried out their maintenance work in the challenging conditions often necessitating a change of plan at the last minute.

The Thursday nine holers played stableford on the front nine holes. Brian Worcester (8) won with an excellent 23 points followed by Heather Jenkins (9) with 18 points. Brian also won the nearest the pin on the 9^th hole and Gail Leigh won on the 4^th hole.

Brian and Gail were also on the winners list on Saturday when a mixed stableford round was played. Gail (12) won the competition with 38 points on a countback from Brian (19), and also won the nearest the pin on the 4^th hole and the Golden Shot. Colin Davies won the nearest the pin on the 9^th and Keith Atwell won on the 18^th hole. Alexandra golfers John Norfolk and Bruce Flanders were welcomed to the competition. Next Saturday all golfers will play a mixed stableford round for the Neil Murphy Trophy. 

Saturday was also a designated Charity Day with all money raised donated to the Foundation Murrindindi/ BlazeAid’s ‘Purchase a Picket’ Appeal for Bushfire Recovery. A $10 donation can purchase one star picket to assist BlazeAid with their fencing replacement programme. 

The club is in the final stages of setting up the Miscore digital scorecard system and this was used successfully by players on Saturday. The club thank those members who have been involved with installing this programme and thank Peter Doery for being on hand on Saturday to assist players with the system.
