Marysville Golf Report 30 October

Last Thursday for the nine-hole competitors it was the opening of the Summer Competition . Prior to playing a 2 person ambrose the players enjoyed a BBQ lunch which was kindly donated by Mark Alexander and expertly cooked by Richard Clark. The convincing winners were Peter Doery and Keith Atwell followed by Colin Davies and Ian Gardner. No one reached the green from the tee on the 4th hole, but Bob Emblin had nearest the pin on the 9th hole. It was great to see both Amanda Rattay and Meredith Doery back on the course after some health issues. The Thursday 9-hole competition is open to anyone with a GA handicap. Just turn up for a 12.30 registration and tee off at 1.00pm.
Whilst the nine holers were playing at home Margaret Blair, Heather Jenkins and Lesley Rundle travelled to Lancefield to play in the Mt William Cup. Forty two players from some Dalhousie district clubs and further afield played a stableford round. The scores reflected the fact that the players found the course challenging with 32 points the highest individual score of the day. The team from Kilmore won the cup with 91 points and the team from Marysville combined to reach 77 points and were 5th on a countback from Lancefield and Goonawarra. Our thanks to the Lancefield ladies for hosting a very enjoyable and well organised event. The venue this week for the travelling ladies is Mandalay Golf Club in Beveridge. Members thank the ladies for travelling long distances to represent Marysville at the various golf events around the district and further afield.
Due to heavy rain and the threat of thunderstorms, there is really only one word to describe the Saturday competition - WASHOUT. Apparently two players did play but all other members were happy to stay at home and enjoy other activities.
Next Saturday the annual fundraising teams Ambrose Tournament. Details of this event can be found on the club Facebook Page and Website. The Mixed tournament due to be held on sunday has been cancelled due to lack of numbers.
Members are reminded that the Dalhousie Men and Ladies Championships will be held at the Yea Golf Club on Sunday 29th November. Details are on the Dalhousie District Website.
