Last Saturday, 18 October, the men played the final round of the Club Championships. Glen Rattay (12) was declared the 2025 Club Champion with a total of 255 over three rounds. Congratulations to Glen for winning the title in his first year of regular Saturday golf. Congratulations also to Travers Stow (19) for winning the Black Spur Trophy with nett 217 for the best handicap score over the three rounds.
Brett Mansfield was the runner up in the Championship, followed by Richy Clark and Steve Coker. Travers (19) also won the daily competition with an excellent nett 63 followed by Alan Howard (16) with nett 71. The ladies played the 3rd round of their 4 round Championship and keeping success in the family, Sabrina Stow (23) was the daily winner with nett 73 followed by Lesley Rundle (35) with nett 76.
The nearest the pins were won by Glen Rattay, who won two nearest the pins with Keith Atwell and Steve Coker also having success with Steve also winning the Golden Shot. Brett Mansfield won the putting with 26 putts, on a countback from Steve Coker.
After play members helped Gail Leigh celebrate her Birthday with a cake and quite an impressive rendition of ‘Happy Birthday!’
Next Saturday the men will play the final of the Par Shield and the ladies the 4th and final round of the Championships. Those who have qualified for the Par Shield final are Keith Atwell, Adam Littlejohn, Brian Worcester, Ray Jones, Drew Kaempkes, Ross Ansell, Paul Martin. David Douthwaite, Brett Mansfield and Richy Clark.
The Thursday nine holers played the second round of the Winter Competition finals on the front nine holes. Ian Harris (11) won with 20 points followed closely by Gail Leigh (6) just one point behind. The nearest the pins were won by Richy Clark and Glen Rattay.
Next week will see the final round played with several contenders to take out the title. Members thank Amanda Rattay for submitting the Thursday results each week.
A reminder that the first round of the Foodworks’ Murrindindi Masters will be played at Alexandra on Saturday November 15th. Members who intend playing in this event are asked to sign the list at the club or contact Sabrina Stow as soon as possible.
November will be a busy month at the club with the Fundraiser on Saturday, 8th November with the Mixed Tournament on Sunday, 9th November and the Dalhousie Veterans on 27th November. Details on all events can be found on the club website and Facebook page.
As is customary for our Club Tournaments, all members are kindly asked to contribute donations of suitable items for the raffles. Suggested items include non-perishable foods such as chocolates and other delicacies, wine, beer, and gift vouchers. Donations can be placed in the box in the office marked ‘Raffle Donations’ or given directly to Helen Howard (our raffle prize packager extraordinaire!) by Saturday, 25 October.
