Last Saturday the third and final round of the men’s Championship was played and a good number of men participated in excellent playing conditions. The winner of the 2022 Men’s Championship was Andrew O’Shea with a gross score of 232. Members congratulated Andrew on his victory. The winner of the handicap Championship and the Black Spur trophy was Alan Howard with net 218 over the three rounds. Well played Alan.
There were eight ladies who qualified for the final of the Barton Shield which was also played on Saturday. The winner was Gail Leigh (12) with net 73 on a countback from Heather Jenkins. Congratulations to Gail and Heather on a close game.
The December monthly medal was also played on Saturday. The men’s winner was Alan Howard (19) with net 68 and the runner up was Brian Worcester (18) with net 71 on a countback from Richard Clark. Gail Leigh (12) won the ladies medal with net 73 from Heather Jenkins. The nearest the pins were won by Travers Stow, Steve Coker, Helen Howard and Meredith Doery who also won the Golden Shot. Yewls Kuan won the putting with 26 putts.
It was a pleasure to welcome to the competition some golfers from two local clubs. Greg Roberts from Strathbogie GC and Matt Richards, Shane Mc Goldrick and Jarrod Sloane from Alexandra GC. Visitor are always welcome to join the Saturday competition. No bookings are necessary golfers just need to turn up at 9.00am for a 9.30 tee off.
Next Saturday all the monthly medal winners will play off for the Medal of Medalists trophy. On Saturday 17 December the annual presentation day will take place. A flyer has been distributed to all members and are asked to note that a shotgun start will be at 8.30 and partners for the 2-person ambrose game with 3 clubs and a putter can be chosen prior to the event or selected randomly on the day. If members intend playing in this event and staying for lunch please inform Alan Howard.
