Golf Report - 20th Feb 2022

Since the beginning of the year the Marysville golfers have played at Alexandra and Yea for the Murrindindi Masters, hosted the final round of the Masters and played the annual Liesfield Trophy which always attracts a big field of golfers.

Last Saturday things were somewhat quieter at the club when the members played a stroke round for the February monthly medal. Conditions were very comfortable and the course was in excellent condition. The ladies winner was Lesley Rundle (32) with nett 74 followed by Beverley Bellman (35) with nett 77. The men’s winner was Mark Bambery (24) with nett 70 and the runner up was the in form Brian Worcester (19) with nett 75. The nearest the pins were won by Paul Martin on the 4th, Keith Atwell on the 9th, Ross Ansell on the 11th and Mark Bambery on the 18th. The putting was won by Adam Littlejohn with 26 putts. Congratulations to all the winners.

Marysville Golf Club is a member of the Dalhousie District. This district covers a huge area and includes clubs such as Trentham, Woodend, Strathbogie, Euroa, Avenel, Romsey and Lancefield. The Marysville players travel vast distances to play in Dalhousie events and to support the Dalhousie clubs. Last Thursday 3 Marysville ladies travelled to Wallan to play in the Hidden Valley Ladies Bowl. Congratulations to the Hidden Valley team for winning their own Bowl just one point ahead of the Seymour team. Gail Leigh with 33 stableford points received one Dalhousie Player of the Year point. The Hidden Valley course is a challenging and very long one with the majority of players having to use a cart. This week six ladies are playing closer to home when they travel to Alexandra to play in the Ladies Bowl. Our thanks to all those who travel long distances to represent Marysville. The Marysville ladies Bowl will be held on Thursday 24 March.

Jody Doran is a Marysville member who also plays at Spring Valley GC in Clayton South. On Saturday Jody won the Spring Valley A Grade Championship and Jody is to be congratulated on her success.

Next Saturday a stableford round will be played by both the men and ladies and visiting golfers are welcome to join the competition with a hit off at 9.30 am.
