This is the first report for 2026 and all the Marysville golfers wish everyone a Happy New Year. However, they are very cognisant of the fact that for many people in Murrindindi and neighbouring Shires it has been a very traumatic start to 2026. The members acknowledge that it will be a long recovery for people and their thoughts are with all those affected by the fires.
Last Saturday was the first day of a heat wave and the small number of golfers playing a stroke round reflected the fact that many golfers were reluctant to travel to the area on a Total Fire Ban Day.
The competition was a mixed event and the winner was David Douthwaite (25) with 68 nett. Richy Clark (14) was the runner up with nett 69 on a countback from Drew Kaempkes. The nearest the pins were won by Sabrina Stow, Drew Kaempkes, Richy Clark and Glen Rattay who also won the Golden Shot. Richy won the putting with 25 putts.
Next Saturday Marysville will host the 2nd round of the Foodworks Murrindindi Masters. Yea members were due to host the second round on Saturday 10th January but cancelled the event due to the fire activity and will host the final round on February 28th. Entries for the Marysville Masters should by now have been submitted and as changes can involve alterations to the draw participating clubs are asked to inform Colin Davies of any changes as soon as possible.
Information has been circulated about the 2026 Pennant Season. If any members are interested in playing Pennant please contact the men and ladies Captains as soon as possible.
The green keeping team of volunteers worked very hard this week to maintain the course in excellent condition. We thank them and all the members who have worked steadily behind the scenes during the Christmas and New Year break to govern the club.
