Today’s December Monthly Medal brought dogged competition across the small but hardy players in both the men’s and women’s fields, that endured dramatic and unforgiving weather that swept through the course.
The men’s winner was Steve Coker (18) with a net 73 with a steady performance on a day when conditions tested every part of the game. A tightly contested field saw Drew Kaempkes (13) and Brian Worcester (19) share second place, both finishing with net 76. The ladies winner was Gail Leigh (13) with a net 76, navigating the challenging conditions with consistency and composure.
Persistent thunder and lightning forced many players to retire early for safety. Those who continued played through heavy rain and gusty conditions, finishing the round wet, tired, and admirably determined.
Members are reminded that the annual Medal of Medallists’ competition will take place next week. This event recognises the outstanding performers across the year’s medal rounds.
In upcoming events, members are reminded that there will be a working bee at the club on Tuesday 9 December. The annual Presentation Day will be held on Saturday 20 December, with a shotgun start novelty game of golf at start at 8.30am, followed by lunch and presentation of the 2025 trophies. Members, family and friends are encouraged to attend this celebration of the golfing year. As numbers are required for catering purposes, members are requested to provide their RSVPs to Heather Jenkins by no later than 13 December.
Vale – Members would like to extend their condolences to the family and friends of Harry Whiteley. We were saddened to hear of the death of Harry who was a stalwart of the club and a major contributor to the development of the back nine holes. He and his wife Pat were great supporters of the Buxton and Marysville communities. Sympathies to Pat and the Whiteley family on the loss of Harry.
