Brian Worcester (19) on the 14th Green, had a day out with a nett 71.

Last Thursday the nine holers played a stroke competition on the front nine holes, with Mark Alexander (3) claiming the win after a three-way countback with Glen Rattay (5) and Brian Worcester (9). Richy Clark won the nearest the pin on the 9th hole with no player being able to reach the green with a tee shot on the 4th hole.

Each month golfers play a stroke round for the Monthly Medal, and last Saturday all monthly medal winners played for the Medal of Medallists Trophy. Unlike the previous Saturday weather conditions were calm and perfect for golf. Glen Rattay (12) won the men’s trophy with a nett 72, while Heather Jenkins (21) won the ladies’ trophy, also with a nett 72. Members congratulate both Glen and Heather on their wins. Glen also won nearest the pin on the 9th and 18th holes, with Jody Doran winning on the 4th. To cap off a very successful day, Glen also won the Golden Shot. Adam Littlejohn was the in-form putter, finishing the round with just 25 putts. During presentations after play, members celebrated Helen Howard’s birthday and, despite being the club’s chief birthday cake maker, Helen was spared the task of baking her own cake.

Next Saturday, as part of Presentation Day, a 4BBB with a Twist will be played, followed by lunch in the Pavilion Bar and Grill and the presentation of the 2025 trophies. Members are asked to note that play will commence with an 8.30 am tee-off.

The second round of the Foodworks Murrindindi Masters will be played at Yea on Saturday 10 January. Members are asked to advise Colin Davies if they wish to play and to indicate their preferred tee-off time by no later than Saturday, 27 December. Entries need to be provided to Yea by Friday 2 January.

As the year draws to a close and Presentation Day approaches, it is timely to acknowledge the effort that sits behind the scenes of club life. Managing a golf club is no easy task, and the club can only operate successfully through the generous support of its volunteers. Governance responsibilities, course, garden and cart maintenance, competition coordination, social media and record-keeping, and event organisation all rely on members giving their time and effort. As another golfing year draws to a close, all those who have volunteered at the club are thanked sincerely for their valuable contribution.

Members of the Marysville Golf Club wish all local golfers and members of the Murrindindi Shire a Happy Christmas and a safe and enjoyable holiday.
