Golf Report - 20 April 2024

Last Saturday In glorious Autumn sunshine the men and ladies played a stableford round. The players enjoyed being surrounded by some stunning Autumn coloured trees and the beautiful red fly agaric fungi under which there were no fairies.

The ladies winner was Heather Jenkins (18) with 34 stableford points and the runner up was Lesley Rundle (31) with 32 points. The men’s winner was Alan Howard (17) with 35 points on a countback from Adam Littlejohn (22). The nearest the pins were won by Steve Berry, Peter Lilley and Ray Jones who also won the Golden Shot. Next Saturday the men will play stableford for the second round of the Barton Cup and the ladies stableford round winner will win the Mavis Hadfield Trophy.

Last Monday some Marysville ladies travelled to Wonga Park to play in the Heritage ladies Bowl and on Thursday to Lancefield to play in their ladies tournament. The ladies enjoyed the events and thank The Heritage and Lancefield ladies for their hospitality. The week 3 ladies will play in the Mansfield Bowl.

On Sunday the men played Alexandra in the 4th round of the Pennant competition and Marysville beat Alexandra 3 matches to 2.  Well played Alan Howard, Steve Coker, Richy Clark, Keith Atwell and Peter Lilley on their victory. They next play Strathbogie at Eildon. This week the ladies pennant team had a bye but will play Seymour at Broadford on Monday 29th April.

Members would like to congratulate Brian Worcester who on Saturday night at the Buxton CFA dinner held at the club was awarded a Life Membership of the Buxton Fire Brigade. Brian has 54 years’ experience as a firefighter and driver and routinely assists with maintenance of the station and regularly attends meetings and training. Congratulations Brian.
