Saturday was another perfect day weatherwise for golf and the players enjoyed being amongst the colourful shrubs and green and lush fairways. Both the men and the ladies played a stroke round for the November monthly medal. The men’s winner was Travers Stow (21) with nett 70 followed by Brian Worcester (19) with nett 72. Lesley Rundle (34) with nett 72 won the ladies medal on a countback from Sabrina Stow (24). Lesley also won the putting with 25 putts. The nearest the pins were won by Keith Atwell, Travers Stow, Richy Clark and Adam Littlejohn who also won the Golden Shot. During presentation members celebrated Julie O’Shea’s birthday with some delicious cake.
Next Saturday 9th November the much anticipated and meticulously planned 50th Anniversary and Fundraising event will be held. Golfers are coming from far and wide to play a 2 person Ambrose game before being joined by a number of non-golfers for dinner in the clubhouse. On Sunday the Marysville mixed Tournament will be held with many visiting golfers staying overnight in the district to play in that event.
On Monday 11th November the Dalhousie Jean Wallder Bowl is being played at Yea and a ladies team from Marysville are entered and on Thursday 14th a number of ladies will be playing in the Seymour Bowl whilst the Dalhousie Veterans are playing at Marysville. Last Thursday 5 ladies travelled to Lancefield to play in their ladies Bowl. Congratulations to the Lancefield team for winning the Bowl and our thanks to the Lancefield ladies for their hospitality.
The first round of the Foodworks Murrindindi Masters is being played at Eildon on Saturday 16th November and local golfers are reminded to put their entries in. The other 3 rounds will be at Alexandra on 11th January, Yea on the 1st February and the final round at Marysville on 1st March.
It is a busy time for all golfers and we thank all the volunteers who make these events possible and the golfers who support them.
