
Having completed a successful 2024 with the Medal of Medalists and Presentation Day the Marysville golfers are now following the 2025 syllabus which lists events at the club and throughout the Dalhousie District. On Saturday 11 January approximately 27 members played in the second round of the Foodworks Murrindindi Masters at Alexandra and there were some very pleasing results. At each of the four rounds of the Masters the lady and man with the best score of the day wins a Mini Masters trophy. Congratulations to Marysville members Margaret Blair and Adam Littlejohn for winning the Alexandra Mini Master trophies. Other Marysville winners were Sabrina
Stow, Helen Howard, and Naomi Gist. Congratulations to all the winners. Foodworks are thanked for their ongoing generous sponsorship of this annual event and the Alex. golfers thanked for their hospitality. Golfers next gather at Yea on Saturday 1 st Feb for the third round of this popular event.
Last Saturday both the men and ladies played stableford and the men’s round included the first round of the Barton Shield. The ladies winner was Heather Jenkins (17) with an excellent 39 points followed by Gail Leigh (13) with 35 points. The men’s winner was Ray Jones (22) with 40 points followed closely by Alex Bullard (27) with 39 points on a countback from Kevin King a visitor from Yea Golf Club. The qualifiers for the Barton Shield final later in the year were Ray, Alex, Mark Bambery and Paul Martin. The nearest the pins were won by Andrew O’Shea, Mark Bambery, Heather Jenkins and Gail Leigh who also won the Golden Shot. After play Rick, Brendan and Kevin from Yea Golf club were welcomed. It was great to see them playing at Marysville whilst their course
was out of action due to the Yea races. Celebrations to honour the birthdays of Alan Howard and Peter Lilley were held and those present enjoyed eating Helen Howards delicious scones, jam and cream.
On Friday 10 January a very successful golf clinic was held at the club. Travis Harrison a professional coach based at Spring Valley Golf Club travelled to Marysville to coach the participants. The feedback from all those who participated has been very positive. Members thank Travis for sharing his great teaching skills, Heather Jenkins for organizing the clinic and all those who supported the initiative.
Next Saturday a stroke round will be played followed by the Murrindindi Masters at Yea on 1st February and the Liesfield 4BBB on 8th February. Please note that if required, the emergency date for the Murrindindi Masters is on Saturday March 22nd.
