It was another warm day for the nine holers who last Thursday played stableford on the front nine. The winner was Peter Doery (14) with 18 points on a countback from Gail Leigh. Peter was the closest to the pin on the 4th hole and Glen Rattay chipped in for a birdie on the 9th hole and was thus the winner of the nearest the pin on that hole.
On Thursday Gail Leigh birdied the long 377 m Par 5 8th hole and her excellent form continued in the Saturday competition. When playing stroke for the monthly medal and the first round of the Barton Shield Gail parred 8 of the front nine holes and birdied the 2nd hole. This gave Gail (13) a nett 68 and she convincingly won the ladies competition. Margaret Blair (33) was the runner up with nett 79. The men’s monthly medal was won by Pat Orwin (33) with an excellent score of nett 64 and Pat was thrilled to get his first eagle- 2 under par on the 7th hole. Congratulations to Gail and Pat on some excellent golf. The men’s runner up was Ross Ansell (12) with nett 71 and Ross, Ray Jones, Brian Worcester and Alex Bullard won the nearest the pins with Alex winning the Golden Shot. Adam Littlejohn won the putting competition with 36 putts.
Next Saturday all golfers will play a stableford round.
