Last week was a busy one for the Marysville golfers and there is more action to come in March and April.

On Saturday the 14th, Michelle & Brett Mansfield hosted a private event at the Alexandra races and generously named Marysville Golf Club as the tent sponsor. This gave the Club and Pavillion Bar a full-page ad in the form guide and social media mentions, providing fantastic community exposure.

The Club also had the pleasure of presenting a trophy and short speech to the winner of the first race. We deeply appreciate Michelle & Brett’s generosity and the chance to showcase the Club so prominently.

On Monday 16 March Margaret Blair, Beverley Bellman and Lesley Rundle played in the Mansfield Ladies Bowl. There were 72 players with many coming from the North East Golf District. Lesley Rundle won C Grade with 33 points and the team from Albury G C won the Bowl. On Thursday the same three ladies played in the Seymour Bowl but struggled to achieve good scores on the challenging course but the team from Alexandra played well and won the Bowl. Congratulations to all the winners and many thanks to both Mansfield and Seymour for hosting the events.

The Thursday nine holers played a 2-person ambrose on the front nine holes. The winners were Geoff Ferguson and Paul Martin with nett 31.5 followed by Brian Worcester, Bob Emblin and Ken Whittingham with 33.17. The nearest the pins were won by Ray Jones and Keith Atwell. The nine holers are reminded that the competition this week will start later than usual at approximately 1.30 due to the Ladies Bowl event.

Last Saturday the competition was the March monthly medal and the first round of the Summer Aggregate. Jody Doran (15) won the ladies medal with nett 72 followed closely by Heather Jenkins (15) with nett 73. Drew Kaempkes (12) won the men’s section with nett 75 on a countback from David Douthwaite (25). The nearest the pins were won by Colin Davies, Ray Jones and Richy Clark who also won the Golden Shot. On Sunday in the first round of the Dalhousie Men’s Pennant in Handicap Division 2 Marysville defeated Alexandra 4-1. Well played Glen Rattay, Steve Coker, Richy Clark, Keith Atwell and Drew Kaempkes. On Sunday 29th March Marysville will host the second round.

A very successful golf clinic was held at the club on Tuesday with all participants benefitting from the excellent coaching of PGA Coach Travis Harrison. They now have to try and put into practice all the finer points of the game. Members thank Heather Jenkins for organising the clinics.

On Tuesday 31 March Marysville will host the Dalhousie Veterans Competition. On Saturday 4th April a Junior Invitational Day is being held with Juniors invited to play a 2 person Ambrose. They will be mentored by experienced golfers in what is a fun team game. This is a free event for Junior golfers and tee off time is 9.00am for 9.30. For more information and registration please contact Heather Jenkins as soon as possible on 0429146763. On 11th April the Tour Elephants will challenge the Marysville players in the Annual Challenge. Members are asked to register your interest in playing in this event as soon as possible.

Please note that on Weds 8th April the greens are being cored.
