Last Saturday Marysville members hosted the second round of the Foodworks Murrindindi Masters with 93 players braving the heat to play a stableford round on the beautifully prepared course. A number of players found weather conditions and the course challenging with discussions around the lunch tables after play comparing how many golf balls players had lost. A number of Marysville members were on the winners list with the ladies doing particularly well. Congratulations to Jody Doran (14) for being declared the Marysville Mini Master with 37 points. Heather Jenkins (20)  was the winner of the A Grade with 33 points on a countback from Michele Mansfield (26) and Margaret Blair (35) was the B Grade runner up with 29 points. Marysville member Ming Kuan (16) with 36 points was the B Grade runner up. Members congratulate all the Marysville winners and the winners from other clubs in particular Greg Clements (21) from Yea for winning the Men’s Mini Masters title with an excellent 39 points. Special thanks to Cathie Harper from Foodworks for  supporting this event and for presenting the very generous trophies to all the winners. Thanks also to all those who supported the club by playing in the competition. Events such as these take a large team of people to organise and all members who assisted with the organisation were thanked by President Steve Coker. The four clubs will next meet at Eildon on 14 Feb for the 3rd round of the Masters and the rescheduled final round will be held at Yea on 28 February.

Next Saturday the golfers will play a 4BBB game for the Liesfield Trophy. This event is in memory of Matthew and James Liesfield and their mother Elizabeth who sadly lost their lives in the 2009 Black Saturday fires. Members are thrilled that Matthew and James’ Uncle and Aunt will be traveling from Warrnambool to join members on this special Memorial Day.

On Tuesday 17 March a series of golf clinics will be held at the club. Men and women of all abilities will be coached by Professional Golf Association coach Travis Harrison. Clinic options are a 2-hour small group session for new and returning golfers, a 2-hour small group intermediate session for those who play on a semi regular basis and 30-minute private individual lessons. Please read the flyer on the Marysville Golf Club website with information regarding times, cost and booking procedure. Bookings are essential and close on Tuesday 17th February. Contact Heather Jenkins on 0429146763 or heatherjenkins2008@hotmail.com for further details.
