Marysville Golf Report-9th March

Last Saturday morning, a full car park, the smell of egg and bacon rolls, and some unfamiliar faces were the order of the day at the Marysville Golf Club. The members welcomed players from Lakeside Golf Club, who each year vacate their club for the Formula 1 Grand Prix and travel to Marysville for the interclub challenge. In perfect conditions, 50 golfers played a stableford round.

The ladies winner was Lesley Rundle (38) with 35 stableford points followed by Lakeside member Sally Disirio (27) with 34 points.

The winner of the men’s section was Marysville member Ming Kuan (16) with an excellent 39 points, beating Richy Clark (14) on a countback. Ming’s score was the best of the day and he was the winner of the Don Read Trophy. The trophy is named after the Lakeside member who instigated and has generously coordinated the fundraising event for 15 years. The nearest the pins were won by Keith Atwell, David Douthwaite, Jeff Lovell and David Peach.

The winners of the 2026 Lakeside v Marysville Challenge trophy was Marysville with an average score of 30.2. Lakeside were not far behind with 28.3. At the presentation, all those who contributed to this successful event were thanked and the importance of the friendly challenge was acknowledged by all those who spoke. Special thanks were given to Michael Button from the House of Golf for his ongoing sponsorship.

Next Saturday, the Marysville golfers will play a stableford round with all competition fees and donations given to the Marysville Lions Need for Feed programme and the Foundation Murrindindi Food Share initiative.
