Marysville Golf Report 21 Feb

Last Saturday the Marysville golfers, having played at Eildon the week before and preparing to play at Yea next week, enjoyed a day on their own course . The golfers played stroke for the February monthly medal and the ladies game included the first round of the Barton Shield. The course was looking lush thanks to the course volunteers being able to irrigate with re cycled water. The ladies winner was Sabrina Stow (24) with nett 74 followed by Gail Leigh (9) with nett 76. Congratulations to Gail who played an eagle 2 under par on the 391m Par 5 17^th hole. A great achievement on a hole described on the website as ‘ an elevated tee with a dogleg right and a river protecting the green’ and advice to ‘select your shots carefully’ which Gail obviously did! The men’s winner was Glen Rattay (12) with nett 69 with Richy Clark (14) runner up with nett 71.The nearest the pins were won by Peter Lilley, Gail Leigh and Richy Clark who also won the Golden Shot. The best putter on the day was Heather Jenkins with 24 putts. Next Saturday golfers will gather at Yea for the 4^th and final round of the 2025/6 season of the Foodworks Murrindindi Masters.

On Thursday 5 ladies will play in the first Dalhousie club event of the year at Alexandra and this is the beginning of a busy period at Marysville and other clubs. Marysville are preparing for the annual Lakeside Challenge on Saturday 7^th March, a golf clinic on Tuesday 17^th March, the Ladies Sandy Wilson Bowl on Thursday 26^th March and the Dalhousie Veterans on Tuesday 31 March. Members, please note that Footy Tipping starts on Thursday 5^th March and once again the club is running a competition and welcomes all members, friends and families to participate. It is a fun activity and raises important funds for the club.
