Last week was a busy one for all the Yea members as they prepared to host 91 golfers on Saturday in the final round of the 2005/6 Foodworks Murrindindi Masters. Hosting the final round is particularly challenging as the scores from all 4 rounds have to be calculated and final trophies presented. To encourage golfers to attend the final round a new initiative was established with the names of all those who had played 3 rounds placed in a box. One name was drawn randomly to win $100 voucher from Foodworks and the winner had to be present for the draw. The lucky inaugural winner was Len Jenkins from Alexandra. Some Marysville players had good scores and received very generous vouchers from Foodworks. Jody Doran won the ladies A Grade with 33 points followed by Sabrina Stow with 32 points. Naomi Gist won B Grade with 40 points and the Marysville men took out the B Grade prizes with Peter Lilley winning with 36 points followed by Keith Atwell with 35 points. Adam Littlejohn won the nearest the pin on the 18th hole. Marysville members congratulate all the winners from the other clubs in particular Sandi McClear and Alan Mackwell from Eildon for winning the 2025/6 Masters titles.
A new trophy was presented this year for a team event. After each round the top 10 scores from each club, excluding the home club, were totalled and the top scoring team after 3 rounds received the appropriately named Normie Trophy-named after Norm Redropp whose idea it was to establish the now very popular Murrindindi Masters event. The tension in the room was palpable as the team scores were read out and cheers were loud when Yea were declared the winners with 1045 points. Marysville were 2nd with 1026 points followed by Eildon 1015 and the Alexandra with 926. Foodworks and their representative Cathie Harper were thanked profusely for their continual and growing support of the event and Cathies presence at each round to present the trophies was noted and appreciated. Cathie is enjoying her golf lessons and maybe next year she will be on the receiving end of some trophies?

Last Thursday 4 Marysville ladies played in the annual ladies Bowl at Alexandra. Congratulations to the Alex team for winning their own Bowl and to Marysville member Heather Jenkins for winning A Grade.
Next Saturday Marysville will host Lakeside GC. Lakeside have to vacate their course for the Grand Prix. and they come to Marysville each year to play a stableford round in the annual Lakeside Challenge.
