Last Saturday in wet and windy conditions there were three categories of golfers amongst the Marysville members. There were those who stayed at home in the warm, there were those who turned up at the club but decided that a coffee in Marysville was more tempting than a game of golf and there were those who actually played. Gail Leigh (11) represented the women and won the Stableford game with 32 points and won a nearest the pin on the 18 hole. The men played Par for the second round of the Par Shield. Peter Lilley (15) had an excellent round in the wet conditions with a score of +7 with Steve Coker (17) the runner up with square. Peter also won the nearest the pins on the 9th and 11th and also won the Golden Shot. Well played Peter. Qualifiers for the final of the Par Shield later in the year were Peter Lilley, Mark Bambery, Brian Worcester and Keith Atwell.
On Thursday the nine holers played Stableford on the front nine holes and the winner was Paul Martin with 20 points and Richie Clark was runner up just one point behind. Mark Alexander won the nearest the pin on the 9th hole.
Next Saturday those who registered to play in the mixed match play event will play the first round. Players who chose not to play mixed match play will play a Stableford round. Hopefully conditions will be more conducive to a game of golf and more members will brave the elements.
