Golfers have been very pleased that the weather for the last few Saturdays has been very suitable for a game of golf and last Saturday was no exception. After a wet week the course was in good condition and both the members and the many green fee visitors enjoyed their round of golf.
Both the men and the ladies played a stroke round for the October monthly medal and the ladies round included the 4th round of the Barton Shield. The ladies medal winner was Gail Leigh (12) with net 71 on a countback from Kelly Lloyd -Vanni (34). The qualifiers for the Barton Shield final were Kelly Lloyd-Vanni and Lesley Rundle who will join Margaret Blair, Gail Leigh, Sabrina Stow, Bec Lee, Jody Doran and Heather Jenkins in the final on Nov 8th. The winner of the men’s medal was Brian Worcester (19) with net 71 and the runner up was Colin Davies (26) with net 77. The nearest the pins were won by Colin Davies and Keith Atwell who also won the Golden Shot. Next Saturday the ladies will play stroke for the Mavis Hadfield Trophy and the men will play the first round of the club championships. A reminder to members that registration on a Saturday is 9.00am for a 9.30 tee off.
On Thursday 12 October the Marysville ladies will host a number of ladies from Dalhousie Clubs at their annual tournament.
On Saturday October 28th Marysville will host players from Woodlands GC and Woodend GC. The Marysville men will also on that day play the 3rd round of their championships. All players will play stroke with prizes awarded to the players with the best scratch score, the best handicap score, the best stableford score and the longest and straightest drives.
On Saturday Richie Clark was elected captain of the men’s section and Colin Davies was elected vice captain. The club match committee members are Colin Davies, Richard Clark, Peter Lilley, Lesley Rundle, Helen Howard and Gail Leigh. Members thank these players for being willing to accept these voluntary positions.
