Golf Report - 22nd March 2025

With the golfers having recently hosted the Murrindindi Masters, the Liesfield Trophy, The Lakeside Challenge and the Community Golf Day, last Saturday it was back to playing the regular club competition. Both the men and the ladies played stroke for the first round of the summer aggregate. The ladies winner was Sabrina Stow (18) with nett 71 and the runner up was Lesley Rundle (32) with nett 74. Paul Martin (28) with nett 69 won the men’s event followed by Ken Whittingham (29) with nett 72. The nearest the pins were won by Sabrina Stow, Steve Berry, Adam Littlejohn and Richy Clark who also won the Golden Shot. Peter Lilley had the least number of putts with 29. Next Saturday the second round of the Summer Aggregate will be played.

On Thursday the Inaugural Marysville Community Golf Day, a 4BBB Ambrose team event, was a great success. The events major sponsors were the Marysville Lions Club members who played a big part in the organization of the day. The golfers enjoyed extra novelty challenges on the course and the lunch, raffles, auctions and presentations in the club dining room after play. Special thanks to Steve Coker President of the Golf Club and Jim Lee and Daniel from the Lions club for coordinating the day. The sponsors were from Marysville Bakery, The Duck Inn, and the Pavilion Grill and Bar. From Healesville 4 Pillars Distillery, Healesville Garden Supplies, Peyton and Jones, The Herd Bar and Grill, Giant Steps and the Beechworth Bakery. The Transcend Group, Toro Australia, Buxton Hotel, Taggerty General Store and Drummond Golf Mitcham and all sponsors were thanked for supporting the event.

This week the ladies travelled around the district to play in two Bowls. On Monday four ladies played in the Mansfield Bowl and whilst they didn’t win the Bowl they enjoyed the day and Margaret Blair won a raffle prize. It was a very similar story when three ladies played in the Seymour Bowl with the only Marysville winner being Heather Jenkins with a raffle prize. Our thanks to the Mansfield and Seymour ladies for their hospitality. On Thursday Marysville will host the Sandy Wilson Memorial Bowl and members are looking forward to welcoming ladies from Dalhousie clubs and further afield.

On Sunday the first round of the Dalhousie men’s or mixed Sunday Pennant was played with Marysville travelling to Whittlesea to play Strathbogie. Congratulations to the Marysville team playing in Handicap Division 2 for winning 3 games to 2. They next play Yea at Alexandra.

Lesley Rundle
