Golf Report - 6 Mar 2022

Whilst all our local golfers were pleased to have some heavy rainfall overnight on Friday for some the rain interfered with their Saturday golf game. Just 3 ladies were brave enough to tackle the conditions so the scheduled March monthly medal and the first round of their Championships were postponed and will be played next Saturday 12 March. The ladies who did play played a stableford game which Heather Jenkins (19) won with 30 points followed by Jody Doran and Helen Howard!

The men obviously preferred to play a game of golf in the rain rather than spend a day at home and were able to compete for the March monthly medal. Conditions improved as the day progressed and Yewls Kuan (13) obviously handled the conditions well winning the medal with nett 72. His brother Ming (13) was the runner up with nett 73 on a countback from Duncan Talbot. Ming was also the nearest the pin winner on the 11th hole and Duncan won the putting with 25 putts. Keith Atwell won the nearest the pins on the 9th and 18th holes and also won the Golden Shot. Next Saturday the men will play a stroke round.

Last Thursday five Marysville ladies travelled to Lancefield to play in their annual ladies tournament. Congratulations to Jenny Coleman (27) for winning B Grade with nett 72 and receiving 4 Dalhousie Player of the Year points. Our thanks to the Lancefield ladies for their hospitality. On Thursday five ladies will have an even earlier start when they travel to Woodend to play in the annual Woodend ladies Bowl.

The Marysville ladies will welcome players from the Dalhousie District and further afield to the Sandy Wilson Memorial Bowl on Thursday 24 March. Member donations for the raffle hampers will be welcome and can be left in the members room.

On Friday 11th March a members social gathering will be held at the club from 5.30pm. Nibbles and some drinks will be provided and those who attend will have a chance to chat to committee members and officials and have answered any questions they may have about the club.

On Friday 8th April a golf clinic will be held at the club. Clinic A - 9-11am for new and returning golfers, Clinic B -11-1.00 pm for intermediate and advanced golfers and individual lessons from 2-5pm. Accredited coach Travis Harrison will conduct the clinics. For more information including cost and payment please contact Lesley Rundle 0357747630 or by e mail lrundle@westnet.com.au.
