Golf Report - 30 April 2023

The golfing week began with the Marysville ladies pennant team playing the second round of the Dalhousie pennant competition. They travelled to Seymour to play the Trentham 2 team. There were some close matches but the Marysville players were able to win the round 4-1. The club thanks Jody Doran, Miriam Page, Helen Howard, Lesley Rundle and Jenny Coleman for representing the club. The team have won each of their two rounds and will play the third round on Monday at Kilmore against Yea.


On Thursday the ladies were again playing away from home when they played in the Alexandra ladies tournament. Congratulations to Helen Howard for winning the B Grade scratch event, to Beverley Bellman for winning the B Grade handicap section and to Margaret Blair for winning a nearest the pin. Our thanks to the Alexandra ladies for their hospitality. On Thursday Euroa is the venue for the Dalhousie ladies competition and four Marysville ladies will participate.


Last Saturday on their home course both the men and the ladies played a stroke round with the ladies playing the second round of the club championships. The daily winner was Jody Doran (13) with nett 74 followed by Heather Jenkins (18) with 75 nett. The men’s daily winner was Peter Lilley (19) with an excellent nett 68 with Alan Howard (15) runner up with nett 75. The nearest the pins were won by Travers Stow, Gail Leigh and Mark Bambery who also won the Golden Shot. Congratulations to Mark for his eagle on the 6th hole. The raffle was won by Albert Talbot a precious dog owned by Jody Doran and Duncan Talbot!


On Sunday the Marysville men’s pennant team played the fifth round of their season. They played Eildon at Alexandra which Eildon won 3-2. Congratulations to Eildon on their victory. Next Sunday Marysville will host the finals of all divisions of the men’s competition.


Next Saturday both the men and the ladies will play a stroke round for the May monthly medal and the ladies round will incorporate the first round of the Barton Shield.
