It was another busy week for the Marysville golfers both at their home course and around the Dalhousie District. Last Saturday members welcomed the golfers from Lakeside Golf Club in Albert Park to the annual Marysville v Lakeside Challenge. The Lakeside course is unavailable during the Grand Prix event so the Lakeside golfers enjoy a trip to Marysville staying in local accommodation and playing on the beautiful course. For 13 years this event has been sponsored by Michael Button from the House of Golf and his sponsorship is very much appreciated. This year there were 80 players playing and the Lakeside players dominated the daily results with Ann Thomas, Sally Diserio, Sam Morrison and Bruce Ansell having the best scores of the day. However, when calculations were made taking into account all scores from each team Marysville won the trophy by a very small margin. It was three years ago that Marysville last won the Cup so members are pleased to have it back on the shelf in the clubrooms. Michael Button, Don Read the Lakeside coordinator and Alan Howard from Marysville all spoke about the event and thanked profusely all those involved with the organization of another very successful challenge.

Last Thursday six ladies played in the Seymour Bowl and enjoyed the hospitality of the Seymour ladies who also won the Bowl with 86 points. Good scores were hard to come by with Jillian Chandler the only Marysville player on the winners list with one Dalhousie Player of the Year point.
On Friday four ladies played in the Mansfield Bowl. Well played Jenny Coleman (27) who with 35 points was runner up in C Grade. Our thanks to the Mansfield ladies for their hospitality.
On Sunday the men’s Pennant team in the first round of the Division 2 Handicap section played Eildon at Yea. Marysville won 3 matches to 2 and our thanks to Richard Clark, Steve Berry, Steve Coker, Alan Howard and Keith Atwell for representing Marysville. Well played Marysville team.
On Friday 8th April a golf clinic is being held at the club with professional coach Travis Harrison conducting the sessions. A number of local beginner players and more experienced locals and members will be attending the clinics.
Next Saturday members will welcome another visiting group for their annual challenge. The Tour Elephants will challenge the Marysville golfers and share a meal together after the game. Members please note that tee off on Saturday is 8.30 for a 9.00 am shotgun start.
