Golf Report - 23 May 2022

Last Sunday the Marysville men’s pennant team played Alexandra in the final of the Division 2 Handicap Section at Broadford. In glorious Autumn sunshine Marysville beat Alexandra 3 matches to 2. Congratulations to the Marysville men on their victory and for representing the club. Alan Howard, Steve Coker, Duncan Talbot, Keith Atwell, Richy Clark, Andrew O’Shea, Steve Berry, Peter Jeffery and Mark Alexandra all contributed to the successful season. Our thanks to Broadford for hosting the finals and to all those from around the district who played for their clubs.



On Monday 16th May the ladies’ pennant team played Lancefield in the third round of their pennant season. The Marysville team was beaten by Lancefield 4-1. Thanks to Helen Howard, Jenny Coleman, Lesley Rundle, Jillian Chandler and Beverley Bellman for playing and congratulations to Lancefield on their win. On Monday 23rd May Marysville played Trentham at Yea but the results were not known at the time of writing.


Last Thursday seven ladies played in the Yea Bowl. Congratulations to Jillian Chandler (29) for winning C Grade with 36 points. Jillian was a member of the winning small teams event and received 4 Dalhousie Player of the Year points. Well played Jillian who along with Margaret Blair won a raffle prize. Gail Leigh won the nearest the pin on the 18th hole. The next Dalhousie ladies event is the Strathbogie Bowl on Thursday and six Marysville ladies will attend.


On Saturday both the men and ladies played a stableford round and the men’s game incorporated the third round of the Barton Cup. The daily winner was Keith Atwell (22) with 36 points on a countback from Duncan Talbot (10). Mark Leitinger, Paul Martin, Ken Whittingham and Duncan Talbot qualified for the final of the Barton Cup later in the year. The ladies winner was Helen Howard (24) with 31 points followed by Rebecca Lee (25) with 30 points. The nearest the pins were won by Mark Leitinger, Duncan Talbot and Richy Clark. Mark and Duncan also won the Golden Shot.


Next Saturday a stableford round will be played with all proceeds donated to the chosen local charity the Marysville SES.
