Golf Report - 18 November 2023

The Foodworks Murrindindi Masters is a highlight of the golfing year for the Alexandra, Eildon, Yea and Marysville golf clubs. For 13 years Foodworks have been generously sponsoring the event and all golfers thank the company for doing so.

On Saturday Marysville members hosted the first round of the 2023/4 season and an excellent field of 98 golfers played, in glorious conditions, a stableford round. The ladies Marysville Mini Master with an excellent 42 points was Mim Page (24) from Marysville and the men’s winner was Ben Jacks (24) from Alexandra. Congratulations to Mim and Ben on their victories. Other Marysville winners were Sabrina Stow (24) who won A Grade with 37 points, Jenny Coleman (31) who was the B Grade runner up with 35 points and Travers Stow who won a nearest the pin. Congratulations to Vicki Clements, Di Elliot, Shane McGorlick, Michael Bossonnet, Jason Krist, Peter McNair, Michael Lynch, Wayne Kupke, Matt Richards and John Matthews from the other clubs on their victories. Events such as these take an enormous amount of planning and organising and during the presentation Captain Richy Clark thanked all the Marysville members and friends who assisted with the golf operations, catering, handicapping, preparing the course and the gardens, raffles, and serving at the bar. A great job by all who assisted and a day enjoyed by all the visitors. The second round will be hosted by Eildon on 13 January followed by Alexandra on the 3rd Feb and Yea on 10 Feb.

Thanks to Alan and Helen Howard for playing in the Romsey mixed tournament on Sunday and a number of ladies will play in the Yea ladies tournament on Thursday.

Next Saturday both the men and ladies will play a stableford round for the Captains Trophy.
