Having completed the 2023/4 Foodworks Murrindindi Masters series it was back home last Saturday for the Marysville golfers who played a stroke round for the February monthly medal and the first round of the Ladies Barton Shield. Weather conditions were perfect and the course was looking stunning thanks to Kellan Fiske and his band of volunteers. The ladies winner was Sabrina Stow (22) with an excellent net 69 and the runner up was Jody Doran (11) with net 77. The men’s winner was Peter Lilley (16) with a great score of net 68 followed by Ross Ansell (12) with 70 nett. The nearest the pins were won by Ray Jones, Richy Clark and Keith Atwell who also won the Golden Shot. During the presentation former member and Buxton resident Hellen Elliott and her partner Garry were welcomed.
There is a working bee at the club on Weds 21st February beginning at 9.00am. Help with work around the clubhouse, the gardens and the course would be greatly appreciated.
On Thursday 22nd February a number of Marysville ladies will play in the Alexandra Ladies Bowl the first of the 2024 Dalhousie club events.
On Friday 23 February from 4pm-8pm another session of Barefoot Bowls will be held at the club. For just $5 a head everyone is welcome to go along and enjoy a social game of Bowls, enjoy a drink at the bar and eat some free snacks. All equipment is supplied. Other Barefoot Bowls dates for the diaries are Friday 8th March and Friday 22nd March. Out thanks to Jody Doran, Duncan Talbot and Mim Page for supervising this initiative.
On Friday 23rd February the Yea golf club and Romsey golf club will be hosting a new event organised by the Dalhousie District. A Twilight 9-hole competition will take place and open to all players with or without a handicap. Golfers will tee off from the 10th tee anytime between 4pm-6pm. In coming weeks, the Marysville golfers will host a number of annual events and members are asked to keep an eye out for the details regarding these challenges. The Liesfield Memorial 4BBB will be played on 24 February, The Sandy Wilson ladies Bowl on the 14th March, The Lakeside Challenge on the 16 March and The Tour Elephants on 23rd March.
