Last Saturday a beautiful spring day welcomed the golfers to Marysville golf club and the course and surrounding gardens looked stunning. Kellan Fiske and his team of volunteers have prepared the course beautifully and a special mention must be made of Peter Lilley and Jim Bisset who maintain the gardens around the course and clubhouse. The members and visitors appreciate their efforts.

The men played Par for the final of the 2023 Par Shield which after three rounds was won by Adam Littlejohn. The runner up was Steve Berry on a countback from Peter Lilley. Adam (22) was also the daily winner with +2. Congratulations to Adam for winning this sought after trophy. The ladies also played Par and the winner was Jenny Coleman (31) with square on a countback from Gail Leigh (12) The nearest the pins were won by Ray Jones, Yewls Kuan and Paul Martin who won the Golden Shot. During the presentation members welcomed Patrick Orwan who has recently joined the club. Next Saturday the ladies will play the final round of the Championships and the men will play stableford. It is a charity day so all the competition fees and raffle money will be given to the Buxton CFA.

On Saturday morning four Marysville members attended a meeting at the Alexandra golf club. Dalhousie President Mary Campbell and Mark Bamford from Golf Victoria met with representatives from Alexandra, Eildon, Yea, Strathbogie and Marysville to outline the possible changes to the structure of the Dalhousie District. Mary and Mark have held information sessions at a number of hubs around the district and we thank them for the work involved with such a task.

Unfortunately, last Thursday the Avenel ladies tournament was cancelled due to the low number of entrants but this week Kilmore is the venue for the ladies tournament and six ladies will attend. The Marysville ladies tournament will be held on Thursday October 12 and all local and visiting golfers are welcome to attend.
