Golf Report - 14 August 2022

Whilst it was another week of inclement weather and most of the Thursday nine holers decided not to play the Saturday golfers played their competition as per syllabus. For those still in the mixed match play event the second round was played. Yewls Kuan and Miriam Page played a very close match which Yewls won on the 19th hole- the 1st hole played for the second time. Jody Doran beat Keith Atwell 4 up with 3 holes to play, Ming Kuan beat Richy Clark 4-2, and Steve Coker won against Peter Lilley 6-5. In the third round to be played on Saturday 27 August Yewls will play Jody and Ming will play Steve. Those players who were no longer in the match play played a stableford round in very pleasant and stable conditions. Whilst Jody was winning her match play game her husband Duncan (9) was playing well to win the stableford game with an excellent 37 points on a countback from Adam Littlejohn (23). The nearest the pin competition was also the Doran-Talbot show with Jody winning on the 9th and the 18th and Duncan winning on the 11th hole. Well played to all the weekly winners. Next Saturday both the men and the ladies will play a Par round and for the men it will be the third round of the Par Shield.

Although most of the Thursday golfers chose to stay at home in the warm a few ladies played a social game of golf with some Yea ladies at the Growling Frog Golf Club in Yan Yean. This week they will play at Whittlesea Golf Club.

A reminder to members that the membership fees are now due and that the club AGM will be held on Saturday 10th September at 9.00am.
