Golf Report - 13 Nov 2022

The Marysville golfers were pleased to be back playing on their course after the heavy rainfall and fallen trees had created hazards around the course. The green keeping team did a marvelous job to make the course playable and for that all members are grateful.

The leader of the Winter nine hole competition was Keith Atwell but unfortunately due to a recent injury Keith was unable to play in Thursdays final. The overall winner of the Winter competition was Bob Emblin followed by Ray Jones. Congratulations to Bob and Ray. Next Thursday as a fun event between the Winter and Summer competition there will be a 12.00 noon sausage sizzle followed by an Ambrose event.

On Saturday in warm and sunny conditions a mixed 4BBB stableford event was played. The scores were very close with three pairs Robert Coleman and Steve Berry, Lesley Rundle and John Norfolk and Gail Leigh and Richard Clark all scoring 43 points. However, that score was beaten by Heather Jenkins and Jim Bisset with 45 points. Congratulations to Heather and Jim on an excellent score. On his own admittance Jim says he was carried by his partner Heather all day as his golfing skills are about as good as his football skills with the Marysville Villians. If someone like Jim can be a winner at golf he reckons that anyone in the Triangle area can also be. Therefore, he is encouraging people to take advantage of the free introductory sessions for new golfers being organized by the club. For further details ring Jim on 0487 092 732. Gail and Richard were the runners up on a count back. The nearest the pins were won by Peter Lilley, Steve Berry and Richard Clark who also won the Golden Shot. Thanks to Richard who, in the absence of the men’s captain ran the presentation. Next Saturday the golfers will play the delayed November monthly medal.

A number of Marysville ladies are hoping to travel to Romsey on Thursday to play in their annual tournament.

The first round of the Foodworks Murrindindi Masters due to be held on Saturday 19th November at Alexandra has been postponed due to the wet condition of the course. The Alexandra round will now be played on February 18th 2023.

The club will be busy on Friday 25th November when during the morning and afternoon the Building Industry Golf/Cycling event will be held. In the evening members will host the Emergency Services Sports Night when all members of the Emergency services from Buxton, Marysville, Taggerty and Narbethong will play barefoot bowls, have a putting and nearest the pin competition before nibbles and drinks at members prices. All Marysville members are invited to attend and assist at the Sports night.
