It was another wet start to a Saturday in Marysville and a few reluctant golfers arrived at the club undecided if they would face the elements and play 18 holes, or just go home and stay dry. Fortunately, peer pressure took over and all those who were reluctant to play were persuaded to don their wet weather gear and play.
The weather did improve, conditions were quite calm, and players enjoyed the game. The second round of the mixed Matchplay was played and those who were no longer in the mixed Matchplay played Stableford. In the Matchplay Ritchie Clark won 6-4 against Peter Lilley, Jody Doran won 5-4 against Steve Coker and Brian Worcester beat Yewls Kuan 6-5. Paul Martin and Mark Bambery will play their match at a later date. In the mixed Stableford game Margaret Blair (34) was the winner with 34 points and Keith Atwell (18) was the runner up with 33 points. The nearest the pins were won by Colin Davies, Peter Lilley, Richie Clark and Yewls Kuan who also won the Golden Shot.
Next Saturday the men will play the 3rd round of the Par Shield and the ladies will play a Stableford game.
Members are reminded that the club AGM will be held on Saturday 2nd September at 9.00am in the clubhouse.
