Last Saturday a number of stoic golfers played a stroke round for the July monthly medal and the second round of the Barton Shield. Conditions were challenging with drizzle early on and wet ground throughout the course, but the players persisted and completed the 18 holes. The ladies medal winner was Sabrina Stow (23) with nett 73 followed by Gail Leigh (11) with nett 76. The qualifiers for the Barton Shield final later in the year were Sabrina Stow and Beck Lee who will join the winners of round one Margaret Blair and Gail Leigh. The men’s medal winner was Ming Kuan (15) with 72 nett followed by Paul Martin (31) with nett 75. Sabrina Stow won the putting with 27 putts. The nearest the pins were won by Gail Leigh (2) and Connor McIntosh, a visitor from Melbourne.
Next Saturday the men will play the second round of the Par Shield and the ladies will play Stableford. The mixed match play competition will begin on Saturday 15 July and any members who wish to play in this event are asked to sign the list in the clubrooms or contact Yewls Kuan.
