Marysville Golf Report – 27 September 2025

The highlight of the golfing week at Marysville were the very successful golf clinics held on Friday 26th September. PGA Golf Coach Travis Harrison travelled up from Spring Valley GC to coach three clinics and all were well received by the enthusiastic participants. The day started with a group clinic for beginner and novice golfers, followed by one for intermediate and experienced players and the last offering was private sessions for those who wanted a one-on-one lesson. Members would like to thank Heather Jenkins for organising the clinics, Travis for his expert advice and of course all those who supported the initiative by attending the clinics.

In very favourable weather conditions, the Saturday golfers had an early start for a stableford round giving players time to get home after their round to watch the AFL Grand Final . The ladies winner was Jody Doran (12) with an excellent 37 points followed by the very consistent Gail Leigh (13) with 34 points. Travers Stow (19) won the men’s competition with 35 points followed by the in - form Steve Coker (16) with 31 points. The nearest the pins were won by Peter Lilley, Heather Jenkins, Adam Littlejohn and Brett Mansfield who also won the Golden Shot. Next Saturday both the men and the ladies will be playing a stroke round for the October monthly medal and the first round of their Championships.

Last Thursday four ladies played on the beautiful Strathbogie course in the annual ladies tournament. The Marysville ladies seem to be very good at winning raffles with Helen Howard and Heather Jenkins each taking home a prize and both winning some Dalhousie Player of the Year points. Heather also won a nearest the pin. Our thanks to the Strathbogie members for their hospitality and special thanks to the men in the kitchen who supplied the visitors with a very welcome 3 course meal. Whilst the ladies were in Strathbogie, the Dalhousie Veterans were playing at Eildon. Our thanks to Steve Coker for his regular attendance at the Veterans events. Marysville will be hosting the Dalhousie veterans on Thursday 27th November.

Upcoming events at the club include the dinner on Friday, 3 October to farewell greenkeeper Kellan Fiske and to thank our supporters, the Anniversary Fundraising Day on Saturday, 8 November and the Mixed Tournament on Sunday, 9 November. Details of all these events can be found on the Club’s website and Facebook pages. Members are also asked to note that the first round of the 2025-2026 Foodworks’ Murrindindi Masters will be held at Alexandra on Saturday, 15 November.

This week’s Golf Report also has some important information on the imminent implementation of the new Golf Australia App and what all members need to know and do. Please make sure you read this information and seek advice if you need.

Handicap Calculation Updates

Golf Australia has advised that there will be minor changes to handicap calculations including:

  1. Updates to the 9-hole handicapping formula.

  2. Adjustments to daily difficulty calculations.

  3. A new consistency factor for women and girls to deliver fairer handicapping.

Members may notice small changes to their current handicaps

Support

To assist with the transition:

  • Support will be available at the Thursday 5 October competition and the Saturday 7 October competition.

  • We anticipate the changeover to be straightforward, although—as with all new software—there may be minor glitches.

Thank you for your cooperation in making this transition as smooth as possible.
