Marysville Golf Report 14 March

Last Saturday the golfers played a stableford round and all competition fees, raffle money and donations will be donated to the Marysville Lions Need For Feed programme and the Murrindindi Foundation’s Food Share initiative. Members thank all those visitors and green fee players who also contributed to the charity day.

The ladies winner was Beverley Bellman ( 37) with 36 points followed by Heather Jenkins (20) with 35 points on a countback from Helen Howard and Liz Matthews. David Douthwaite (25) with an excellent 39 points won the men’s section from Steve Coker (19) with 38 points. David’s round included a birdie on the Par 4 374m 15th hole.  This hole is described as ‘a sharp dogleg right and the river protecting the green makes this one tough…’  Well played David. The nearest the pins were won by John Norfolk, Ross Ansell and Richy Clark who also won the Golden Shot. Next Saturday golfers will play a stroke round for the March monthly medal and the first round of the Summer Aggregate.

This week was a busy one for the golfers with 3 ladies playing in the Mansfield Ladies Bowl on Monday and the Seymour Ladies Bowl on Thursday. The golf clinic was held at the club on Tuesday and details of all these events will be given next week. The first round of the Dalhousie Sunday Pennant Competition is on Sunday 22nd March and the team of Steve Coker, Keith Atwell, Brett Mansfield, Richy Clark and Glen Rattay will play Alexandra at Yea.

Last Friday night the bowling green was abuzz with laughter and chatter as 17 local members of the SES and CFA  enjoyed a social game of bowls organised by Bob Emblin and the local Lions Club. It was a way of thanking these great volunteers for all the work they do throughout the year to protect the citizens of Murrindindi and the many visitors to the area. After the game many stayed and enjoyed dinner together in the Pavilion Bar and Grill. Thanks must be given to Bob Emblin and Richy Clark for coordinating the night of fun.
