Last Saturday a number of Marysville golfers braved the hot and windy conditions to play stroke for the second round of the Summer Aggregate. The ladies daily winner was Sabrina Stow (21) with nett 77 followed by Gail Leigh (10) with nett 79. Keeping success in the Stow family Travers Stow (18) with nett 75 won the men’s section followed by Ken Whittingham ( 32) with nett 76. The Summer Aggregate is played over two rounds and Gail Leigh won the ladies competition with nett 153 and Ken Wittingham won the men’s with nett 149. Congratulations to Gail and Ken. The nearest the pins were won by Peter Lilley, Travers Stow, Lesley Rundle and Rob Nightingale who also won the Golden Shot. Bev Bellman won the putting with 29 putts. Rob and his wife Tanya were visiting from Mooroopna Golf Club and they and Jeremy Anghie were welcomed to the club by all members.
On Thursday 7 ladies played in the Seymour Bowl. The Seymour team won their own Bowl but the Marysville team of Jenny Coleman, Helen Howard and Bev Bellman were runners up on a countback from another Marysville team and a team from Alexandra Golf Club. Congratulations to Seymour and we thank them for their hospitality. On Thursday the Marysville ladies will host their own Sandy Wilson memorial Bowl with golfers from throughout the district travelling to play on our beautiful course.
Next Saturday the annual challenge with Lakeside Golf Club will take place. Lakeside have to vacate their golf club during the Formula One Grand Prix event and for many years have spent the weekend in Marysville. Thanks to the generosity of the Lakeside golfers this is a major fundraising event for Marysville and those who play will receive a bacon and egg sandwich before play and a carvery lunch after play. A stableford game will be played and tee off time is 9.00 am for a 9.30 shotgun start.
Last Friday evening another session of Barefoot Bowls was held at the club. For just $5 per head the next session will be held on Friday 22nd March from 4-8pm and all locals and visitors are welcome to go along to the club for a social game of Bowls, a catch up with friends and a drink with nibbles supplied.

Members, locals and green fee players are asked to note that the Golf Club has registered for the 10c container recycling scheme and has a Bar Code for refund points. This transfers the money to the clubs bank account. Lloyd Flaherty has volunteered to take the collected containers to a deposit point and any other voluntary assistance would be welcome. Please support the scheme by placing any 10c containers into the dedicated bins at the club.
