Golf Report - 30 November 2024

Over the last few weeks the golfers have been blessed with some glorious Spring weather and excellent conditions for golf. All that changed last Saturday when very heavy rain kept all but a few golfers at home. Just one lady and 6 men braved the elements and completed the 18 holes. The men played the final round of the Par Shield and Adam Littlejohn (21) with -1 won the event with Richy Clark (12) runner up with -3. The nearest the pin was won by Peter Lilley on the 9th hole. Next Saturday both the men and ladies will play stroke for the December monthly medal and the ladies round will include playing for the Norman Trophy which couldn’t be held last Saturday.

The Thursday nine holers played a two person Ambrose on the back nine holes. The winners were Amanda and Glen Rattay (5) with nett 30 followed by Mark Alexander and Richy Clark (2.75) with nett 31.25. The nearest the pins were won by Gail Leigh and Kellan Fiske. The golfers were delighted that Ian Harris took his Pizza oven to the club and after play they enjoyed some delicious homemade pizzas and good company. Local and visiting golfers are welcome to join the nine hole competition held each week with a 12.30 arrival for a 1.00pm hit off. There is no need to pre enter-just turn up and have some fun and maybe enjoy a pizza.

On Friday the 15th Annual Golf Construction Cup and Cycling event was held.  The golfers played a stableford aggregate game incorporating the Grocon Cup. The winning team were visitors Warren Heinmen, Bruce Heinmen and Simon Gray with a score of 99. The runners up were a Marysville team comprising Heather Jenkins, Keith Atwell and Brian Worcester with 93 points. The nearest the pins were won by Ray Jones and Lloyd Flaherty. Whilst the golfers were playing the cyclists were enjoying a ride up to Lake Mountain and then joined the golfers for lunch supplied by Glen Fiske.  Members thank Steve Coker and Peter Bolinaris for coordinating the event and Heather Jenkins for assisting on the day. Also many thanks to the green keeping team for presenting the course in such good condition during a week of challenging weather conditions.

Members who wish to play in the second round of the Foodworks Murrindindi Masters at Alexandra on Jan 11 are reminded to sign the list in the clubrooms and those who wish to have lunch at the club on Presentation Day on 21 December please inform Alan Howard.
