Perfect weather conditions greeted the Marysville golfers last Saturday with an early start enabling players to watch the AFL Grand Final in the afternoon. Both the men and the ladies played a stableford round. The ladies winner was Heather Jenkins (21) with 38 points and the runner up was Lesley Rundle (33) with 30 points on a countback from Helen Howard. Richy Clark (13) blitzed the field to win the men’s competition with an excellent 41 points followed by Mark Bambery (24) with 35 points. The nearest the pins were won by Gail Leigh, Richy Clark and Travers Stow who also won the Golden Shot. Members welcomed back Alan and Helen Howard after their long trip into Queensland and beyond.
The gardens around the clubhouse are stunning at the moment with the azaleas in full bloom. Members thank all those volunteers who assist with the upkeep of the gardens and the course.
Next Saturday a stroke round will be played by all players for the October monthly medal and the first round of the men’s and ladies Championships. The second round for the ladies and men will be played on Saturday 12th October and the final round for the men will be played on Saturday 19th October. The ladies play four rounds with the best of three taken into account and their third round will be on 19th October and final round will be on Saturday 26th October.
The club is preparing for a number of events over the next few weeks. The annual Ladies Tournament is being held on the 10th October, the Dalhousie Vets are playing at Marysville on Thursday 7th November, the major fundraising event and celebration of the opening of the back nine holes 50 years ago is on Saturday 9th November and the annual men’s/mixed tournament is on Sunday 10th November.
The ladies Dalhousie events are now in full swing and having played in the Kilmore Tournament two weeks ago this week the ladies will travel to Euroa to play in the annual Bowl.
