Writer: MCG&BCMCG&BC

On Monday 17th April the first round of the Ladies Dalhousie Pennant competition was played at Kilmore. There will be another four qualifying rounds before the final on the 22nd May. The Marysville team of 5 players played Romsey and after some very close matches Marysville won 3-2. The club thanks Jody Doran, Miriam Page, Heather Jenkins, Helen Howard and Jenny Coleman for playing, the Romsey ladies for the friendly competition and Kilmore for their hospitality. This week Marysville played Trentham 2 at Seymour and the results will be given next week. The men’s pennant is well under way and on Sunday Marysville had a bye and hosted the 4th round.

In glorious Autumn sunshine on Saturday members played a stableford round with all competition fees and raffle money donated to the Murrindindi Foundation. The course is looking stunning in all its Autumn glory with the red and white Fly Agaric mushrooms and the chestnuts adorning the ground under the colourful trees. The ladies winner was Jenny Coleman (29) with 31 points on a countback from Helen Howard (24). The men’s round incorporated the 3rd round of the Barton Cup with Keith Atwell (20) winning with 35 points on a countback from Ming Kuan (16). Those who qualified for the final were Keith Atwell, Ming Kuan, Adam Littlejohn and Paul Martin. The nearest the pins were won by Keith, Ming and Brian Worcester who also won the Golden Shot. Next Saturday the ladies will play stroke for the 2nd round of their championships and the men will also play stroke.

The Friday Afternoon of Fun is continuing from 1.00pm each week with locals and visitors playing 4 or 6 holes and then attempting to hit a Hole-in -One off the 10th tee with the unique wooden clubs. The Bar will be open and some golf coaching is available for those who would like to improve their game. All are welcome to just turn up and join the fun.
