Last Saturday both the men and the ladies played a stableford round and the ladies game incorporated the Norman Trophy. The ladies winner was Gail Leigh (11) with an excellent 37 points followed by Helen Howard (23) with 35 points. The men’s winner was Ming Kuan (14) with 36 points and Brian Worcester (18) was the runner up just one point behind with 35. The nearest the pins were won by Yewls Kuan, Patrick Orwin and Heather Jenkins who won the Golden Shot.
During the day the club was being prepared to host a wedding with an outdoor ceremony and an evening reception in the clubhouse. In warm but windy conditions the bride arrived in a very grand horse drawn carriage which made a colourful spectacle.
After the wedding the clubhouse had to be transformed into a space to be used for the men’s mixed tournament the following day. Many people assisted with the logistics of these two events and for that we thank them.
The tournament was a mixed event with 38 players participating in a stroke game. Congratulations to Marysville member Jody Doran (14) with net 76 for winning the ladies event and to Euroa member Mark Corradin (3) for his victory in the men’s section with net 71. Other winners were Alan Pell, Richy Clark, Wayne Kupke, Steve Coker, Mim Page and Vicki Clements. The nearest the pins were won by Cameron Pascoe, Matt Mills, Ian Richardson and John Moore. At the presentation after play Captain Richy Clark and Vice-Captain Colin Davies thanked all those members and friends who contributed to a successful day. The course was presented beautifully by Kellan Fiske and the volunteers.
This week will also be a busy week as Marysville members prepare to host the first round of the Foodworks Murrindindi Masters. Players from Alexandra, Eildon, Marysville and Yea will play a stroke round in the hope of winning one of the very generous trophies provided by Foodworks,
